Formed in the small town of Omro, WI, all three members have found the way to blend alternative rock, punk, and hard rock into their own separate styles. Armada is a band with the ability to write rhythmically pounding and lyrically pleasing songs. On stage Armada delivers a roller coaster of emotion. They rock the crowd with a mixture of catchy melodies and interesting rhythms. So if you heard the rumor that we got signed to a label, it is officially true! As of 2 weeks ago Verona Grove is now signed to Pats Record Company/Universal, you can check it out at patsrecordcompany.com, or their myspace. We are totally excited about this and we are currently taking a break to write for the upcoming album, we might just post a show soon so keep your eyes out.

The High and Lonesome boys show at Peabody's this Saturday was a hit!

Hundreds of people squeezed into the ale house to hear the boys play-they even dished out a couple of original numbers!

If you have ever looked-up "High and Lonesome" on a GOOGLE search you may have come across several other albums or musicians who utilized the name.
Here is a bit of a history lesson for you in case you ever wondered why.

I wanna make a list of this but so far I only know two.

Farewell SomethingPhonic

It should be considered nothing more than blessed that the lives of bandmates Joe Stevens,Namiah Tribolini, Keith Scanlan, Sean D. and Mark Martin had coincided so closely for so long. But all good things must come to an end and earlier last month, so did SomethingPhonic.

The band played their last show for the public at the Algoma Club, Nov.12.

Hundreds of people hoarded the former Oddfellow's club to jam away to one stunnning final performance.

"It was bittersweet," Mark Martin said."We gave it our all on the last show and it was well-recieved."

Martin attributes the band's departure to band member's lives moving in different directions.

"It was so nice to see that it wasn't an ugly breakup," Martin said. "We had so many great times together."

Halloween, lots of beer, and a where-everybody-knows-your-name

bar couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for Ripp Winkler to show Oshkosh that the true spirit of punk is indeed alive and kicking some major ass.

The band performed at Peabody’s Ale House Saturday with Papa Labas and the Bob Barcaloungers and Otis Coats opening the show. Ripp has always been known to pack a venue but this time they did it with a more unique audience. Two fluffy man bunnies, the cast of “Anchorman”, Paris Hilton and Steve Martin in “The Jerk” were some of the more memorable costumes of the night. Let us not forget everybody’s favorite garden gnomes and Ripp Winkler bandmates; Gary, Stuart, and Dave.

Thank you, Ripp Winkler, Papa Labas and the Bob Barcaloungers, and Otis Coats for giving downtown Oshkosh one of the best performances over the Halloween weekend.

SHOW HIGHLIGHT: Gary Gose, drummer for Ripp Winkler, is unfortunately leaving the band due to nerve damage in his back.

Gary will be playing his last show with Ripp Winkler this Saturday, Oct. 29 at Peabody's Ale House on Main Street.

Come see Gary rock with the band that, according to Ripp bassist Stew Rossiter will be dressed as lawn gnomes in lieu of Halloween.

This summer I mentioned to one of my friends that I wanted to start a 'zine about the music scene in Oshkosh. Well, that didn't happen because I was too busy and I know jack squat about print publishing.But as the summer days went on, I still yearned for an easier way to find out when and where I can attend some live shows.
Alas! came another idea.
Why not start a website dedicated to music in Oshkosh!!??!!

This is my proposal for this site:

1.Schedule of events in Oshkosh
2.Band list-description-link-public feedback as reviews
3.Band's show reviews-public feedback as reviews
4.Venue descriptions indluding stage. Reviews by musicians (to help other musicians)
and public feedback

Check back often as I will be making update to this site frequently.

The great thing about this site is that it will allow feedback from the public. So anyone viewing this site can see what other people,beside myself, think about a certain band,show or venue.

For any bands or artists looking for some shameless free self promotion-this is a place that you can turn to!!!

We know the life.
We know you work hard.
And we know that you are doing what you love.
Despite many people being hella jealous of your awesome life, we also understand that the life of a musician also has some “hard knocks”.

Why?
Because Oshkosh Music Scene is an online music community
built by musicians for musicians.

Oshkosh Music Scene’s long term goal is to provide a support system for Oshkosh musicians, artists, and music venues by providing and showcasing things that one may find difficult to create or utilize. Ex-Promotion techniques,how to book a show, how to deal with the press, etc.

Oshkosh Music Scenes Long-term Goal is:

Oshkosh Music Scene is a website built on a free server. Not one penny will be spent in the making of the Oshkosh Music Scene website. This is to set an example to bands and artists by allowing and demonstrating a type of grassroots promotion that can attract people and listeners from around the world.

1.To provide a calendar showcasing all scheduled musical acts in Oshkosh. This page will help local music venues who do not have a website yet, by allowing a free form of advertisement for upcoming shows. This page will also benefit bands that do not have a sufficent way to promote their shows.

2. To provide a listing of every venue in Oshkosh that hosts musical acts. Each listing should eventually include: all information about how to book a show at that venue, stage size, gear provided, typical show atmosphere and more. Each listing will be accessible to the public.

3. To provide a photo gallery that includes images of recent shows. The public will eventually be able to submit their own photos.

4. To provide an area where musicians can communicate with each other on any issue they want. The community will also be able to participate in this forum area.
Eventually a gear-swap forum many also be established.

5. To provide the hints and links at how to start your own grassroots band promotion.
Including: Booking, dealing with the press, promoting your own show, getting images of your band, how to record and more!

6. To allow the public to give feedback to every single post and also allow musicians and artists to give their own two cents about anything music related. Articles, tips, and hints will be encouraged to be submitted.
